Butter Pecan Cake Mix Cookies
Good Morning Thrifties!!
Well, we are six weeks into quarantine and we have spent a lot of time in the kitchen. We have cooked and baked like there is no tomorrow because we have had the time to do it. But we still seem to make the same ole' things for supper or we bake the same cakes, cookies and pies. But today I want to share a very simple recipe for a new cookie I copied from a sweet friend.
This cookie is made from a cake mix. So there aren't a lot of ingredients and most of the time you will have everything you need to whip these puppies up real quick.
Here's the recipe:
Box of Butter Pecan Cake Mix
1/3 cup of oil
2 eggs
2 Tbl. Water
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
Mix everything but the chips and pecans together. Beat until mixed. Add chips and pecans. Spray cookie sheet with Pam. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet. Cook at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. DON"T OVERCOOK! This makes about 2 1/2 doz. cookies.
What a treat! I'm thinking you could use any cake mix and still use the chocolate chips and nuts or leave them plain.
So here's to some sweet cookie baking this week. Have a great rest of the week and remember to "Stay Thrifty"!!!

The Versatile Can of Chili
Hello Quarantine Friends!
I hope all is well at your house and the virus is far, far away from y'all. During this time of "stay at home" we have become good friends with our kitchen again. No doubt we have cooked and baked our little hearts out in the last few weeks. So much so that we are tired of the same ole' thing.
Well, let me introduce you to a handy little helper sitting right there in your pantry. The versatile can of chili. Oh, I know everyone has there favorite homemade version of chili but when there is no time to make up a batch you can call that handy can out to help you.
Here are just a few of the things you can do with a can of chili:
1. Chili Spaghetti.. Oh that's a really good one. Quick as a wink you have a great meal. Just add cheese and you are set.
2. The Famous Chili Dog... While a hot dog may not appeal to us when we add chili and maybe some onions it moves to another level.
3. Taco Salad... Only you use chili instead of the hamburger meat mixture.
4. Chili Dip- Now that's really quick. Heat it up and grab the fritos..Maybe add some cheese.
Well, you get the picture. Never underestimate a simple can of chili when you are in a pinch for something quick to fix. The best thing is a can of chili won't break the bank. This is truly a "thrifty" meal.
Y'all have a good rest of the week and remember to stay "Thrifty."

Happy Easter Decorations
Hello "Quarantined" Folks!
It's one thing for us to choose to stay home but to be told we have to stay home is another thing altogether. We are a mobile bunch of people. I think this has made us realize exactly how much we do run the streets for different things.
Since Easter is just around the corner it's time to get out all those decorations and make something new out of them. The wreath on the front door was a $.79 Goodwill "dump" find. It did need some fluffing but it works as good as a new one that would be twenty dollars or more.
I just can't resist the kitchen table because it's in the center of our everyday life. So I got out an old rectangular blue tablecloth and made it work on a round table. I discovered if I folded it about a third of the way over it will work. Y'all had probably already done that but this is the first time I've tired it. The rabbit in the center of the table was a real bargain at $.24 from the "dump". It always amazes me what people will give away. Maybe they just get tired of things or they can't think of new ways to use them. Anyway... I added a few paper carrots and some colored eggs to the plates to finish it off.
Now the front entryway table has an ole' bunny, a bundle of stuffed cloth carrots and a beautiful spring bouquet. What a welcome sight when you come in the front door!
We all know Easter is really all about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. When we keep Him as the main thing a few bunnies and flowers are okay!
I hope y'all are staying safe and sound in your houses. Have a wonderful rest of the week and a great weekend!!
