Sweater Pillow

Thrifty day to all!

With all this cold weather we are bringing out our sweaters. A lot of the department stores are featuring sweater pillows to the tune of $18.00 to $119.00 depending on the size. Good grief! It's a sweater for goodness sake. I really like them but oh, the price.

A couple of months ago while I was visiting different yard sales I found a really nice cable knit sweater for $2.00. With the sweater pillow in mind I made sure it didn't get way. Then at the next yard sale someone had a lot of sewing and craft items. Right in the middle of a box of material there were two brand new pillow forms for $2.50 each (These are $6.00-$10.00 at Joann). I scooped them up and headed back home to see what I could do about making a sweater pillow.

I really wanted to make two pillows but I just couldn't figure out what kind of material to put on the back of them so I just made one and used the entire body of the sweater front and back. After I cut the sweater out to match the pillow size I used my serger to stitch it up so it wouldn't ravel.

Here are some pictures of the process and the finished pillow. Total cost of the pillow was $5.50. You may have some old sweaters you don't want anymore and this would be a good way to use them. If you don't have any Goodwill is always an option. These would make a good Christmas gift.

Keep it Thrifty!
