Backyard Summer Update

Hello Thrifties and welcome to summer!

There have been so many things going on not only in our little town but all over the world. We have come to appreciate home even if we have been quarantined here for a while.

We have worked really hard on our home since we moved in almost eighteen years ago. It seemed like we wouldn't ever be able to relax and enjoy it. But Thrifty Honey is very disciplined and faithful when he starts things to complete them. Now that the inside of the house is pretty much like we want it we have moved out into the yard.

Thrifty Honey built a wall and did a lot of landscaping in the front not too long after we moved in but the backyard... well that's another story. We have a couple of areas we sectioned off for plants and some yard art.

The largest of these was at the back corner of the yard and the huge bush/tree we planted seven years ago decided to die. We kept waiting to make sure it was a gon'er before we cut it down since it was the focal point of that particular area. Yesterday was "D-Day." Thrifty Honey cut it down and I cut some other tree limbs and bushes that were clogging up the area.

For a long time I have wanted this cute little butterfly bench. I just knew the colorful bench would "make" that area. Well, I found it at Kirklands and it was on sale plus I had a coupon for $10.00 off. Yay! Thrifty Sissy rides again! We had the shepherds hook laying behind another area so we pulled it out and got a hanging basket.

I could not believe the transformation. Sorry I was so excited I forgot to take a before picture. But trust me.... this is over the top compared to how it was. The bench ended up costing $71.00 and with the hanging basket the update came in around $100.00. Now that's not counting all the hard work and sweat Thrifty Honey put out which is priceless.

Just like the inside of the house... the outside should make us smile too. Ya'll have a great week and remember to "Stay Thrifty."
